Important updates on Conscientious Emigration Consulting
Booking Options, Birthday Break, Rate Changes, and Network Opportunities
Photo from when we first arrived in Cozumel. We haven’t had a real sustained deliberate break since.
*I’ve updated this post on June 30 using strikethrough, where applicable*
Conscientious Emigration consulting is truly the most rewarding work I've done in a long time.
I can't fully express in words how meaningful it is to meet people -- complete strangers at first -- who "get" leaving the US as a result of experiencing the sociopolitical regression that has been accelerating for the last few years. The fascist slide that has become entirely undeniable since November 2024.
These are my people.
It is an honor and a joy to help people emigrate conscientiously - whether researching, providing logistical support, reviewing documents with a fine-tooth comb, advising on tough decisions, or providing emotional support in the form of encouragement, commiseration, or humor - I love this work.
The amazing people I’ve been helping are the hope for humanity.
I care about the people I work with and take seriously the responsibility to provide updated, accurate information, clear-eyed guidance, and empathy borne of my own lived experience.
It shows in client testimonials (if you’ve consulted with me, you can submit a testimonial, too).
And even with all of that joy, I must practice what I preach and rest, recreate, and refresh.
My partner-in-everything, Wes, and I share a birthday week in July.
For the first time ever, we are granting our own permission to take an entire straight month off of working. From July 1 to July 31, we will be closed.
I can't even believe I'm writing this. One thing I'm learning more and more as systems unravel around us is that tomorrow is not guaranteed. I could wait until the time is "right," and I'd be waiting another 45 years.
So we are doing it.
What that means for people who have been considering emigrating and planning to seek our support (current clients already know and will be supported):
1. Fill out a Screening Form immediately, or at least before the end of June; I will check these and reach out with booking options starting in August if there is a fit.
2. Check your spam. I respond to every Screening Form that isn't an obvious case of trolling. Sometimes, that email isn't received. If you don't hear from me within 72 hours of submitting a screening form, reach out at emigration@silleckconsultingservices.com.
3. I have expanded calendar availability for Exploratory Consults and Consult + Research meetings in June.. The follow-up report you receive after one of these sessions will include next step action items that you can get started on throughout June-July. Please fill out the Screening Form first and I will send a link to book if there is a fit.
3. After an Exploratory Call or Exploration Package Consult or Consult + Research, we can set up a retainer (if there is a fit) for support beginning in August. To ensure quality and my ability to provide one-on-one support and attention, I limit the number of retainer clients I take on at any one time, depending on the level of support needed.
4. We will be raising have raised our rates in August for all services, to account for expanded operational costs, fluctuation in currency worth, and our own market value in providing customized services backed by experience and expertise.
5. We are seeking to build out a network of professionals on the ground in countries with progressive leadership and accessible visa programs to help support our clients. In particular, we are looking for:
immigration lawyers licensed within destination countries
housing options that are safe, affordable, and friendly - especially for people who have marginalized identities or are facing persecution in the US
language and culture teachers and coaches
facilitators that provide on-the-ground support around bureaucratic processes (government, healthcare, banking, etc.)
-These must be people who are:
competent in their fields (according to client reviews and testimonials - I do not care about awards, rankings, or being quoted in mainstream media);
familiar with and sensitive to issues around international gentrification, environmental sustainability, societal equity, and social responsibility;
have the time and desire to help
are responsive, accessible, and dependable,
are sensitive to the context in which clients are making the choice to emigrate.
If this sounds like you or someone you know and trust, please send an email with the subject line: Conscientious Emigration Partner Network to emigrationscs@proton.me with contact information and area of expertise.
This is not an employment opportunity, but a prospective partner network.
6. We have a podcast now. This happened “by accident” as I started to record voiceovers of articles, not being satisfied with AI. I found myself adding commentary outside of the voiceover. I have a feeling this will evolve! Listen on Substack.
It was after our birthdays in July 2022 that we decided to emigrate from Florida to Mexico, and by September, we were crossing the border with visas in hand.
It's about time we take a long break to enjoy it.
Whether you're just beginning to think about leaving the US or fully in the midst of your own emigration, I believe the "other side" offers the potential for hope, peace, healing and meaning for you. As it has for us.
Thank you for moving with conscientious intention.
Love,
Elizabeth Silleck La Rue, Esq.
